I just received a panic call from a journalist friend who described something like the following message when booting his old Compaq portable: 3020 201 PARITY CHECK 1 Does anyone know whether this sectionalizes the problem to a particular memory chip? My friend reports only the letters "A2" when I inquired about the model number. I'd like to be able to send this starving fellow a chip and some instructions so he can avoid professional repair costs. Can someone specify the chip and location? Roger Levy rl@groucho.att.com
