EGA/VGA--no difference
SVGA--72 Hz at 800x600 and 60 Hz at 1024x768. If you are planning
on using these two higher resolutions, go with the non-
interlaced because there is less flicker. (I don't know
what the refresh rate of the old monitor was, and neither
did the tech rep at Gateway when I asked him.)

The non-interlaced is standard, and you only save $50 if you
go with the old monitor. Since they are somewhat backordered on
their new monitors, you can get the old one and have $50 taken
off the price, or get a free 200 baud modem, or get a free upgrade
to DOS 5.0 when it comes out (pick one of these three options).

I believe that the Gateway monitors are really Taxan (sp?)
Monitors with the Gateway sticker. My friend has on of these
and it looks very nice. The graphics are very sharp.

His monitor will not support 1024x768, but from what I've
seen of other monitors I would splurge for the non-
interlaced monitor.

No, they are most certainly not! They are Mag Computronics monitors. They
stopped using the Taxan monitors some time ago. They are now 1024x768
analog, and support 1024x768 noninterlaced mode. Coupled with a 1 Meg
video card, you have a fairly awesome display system.

just curious, did you say you *upgraded* your monitor? did you make a prior
arrangement with Gateway or what? wonder if I can upgrade mine?
