I'm looking for any info on an ARCHIVE brand tape streamer (model 5945c) - it's got a 50way edge connector on the back, and uses QIC tapes. Any info (capacity, interface used) would be helpful - at the moment it makes an interesting door-stop, but I'd like to use it if possible. ----------------------------------------------------------- | o John Davis - CHEM194@canterbury.ac.nz o | | o (Depart)mental Programmer,Chemistry Department o | | o University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand o |

These drives use a dedicated DMA controller card (one model is the Archive SC 200S) having the 50-pin edge conenctor. They cost about $120 or so. The drive is capable of 5 MB/min when streaming and will store 60 MB. They tend to be a little flaky in fast machines - the SCSI "Viper" series has pretty much replaced these, but Archive still has stock of the older stuff. -- l\ /l ' _ Mike Schuster ...!cmcl2!panix!schuster l \/ l l l/ (_ NY Public Access CIS:70346,1745 l l l l\ (_ UNIX Systems MCI Mail,GEnie:MSCHUSTER
