Last Sunday's New York Times travel section contained an article about special inflight meals that can be ordered from the airlines. I have tried American's cold seafood salad and United's cioppino, and found them greatly superior to normal airline fare--both contained identifiable pieces of crabmeat, fish and shrimp that were more tasty and appetizing than the usual "wonder meat". Several years ago, Northwest gave me blueberry blitzes for breakfast while everyone else on the plane was eating awful eggs. I had ordered the Kosher meal. On the other hand, special meals have sometimes been Just Awful. Does anybody else have any experience with this? Please tell me about both good and bad special-order food at 25,000 feet, including the kind of meal ordered and the airline. Reply by mail, and I'll try to put together a summary/traveler's guide. address: ...!decvax!uw-beaver!fluke!telematic!johnr
