I've just got my 386SX clone back after returning it under warranty because of a faulty hard disk (43Mb NEC IDE-type). It's been replaced by a 40Mb Microscience International 8040 IDE disk, made in Singapore. I can't say I've heard of Microscience before. Does anybody know anything about their drives or got any comments (good/bad)? The only notable things I've found out so far is that it's 1/3-height and the head motor's pretty quiet. I'd particularly like to find out what it's average seek time is; I just might be able to live with the 3Mb less if it's faster than the 25ms NEC :-) _____________________________________________________________________________ | Scott Telford, Dept of Computer Science, scott@cs.hw.ac.uk | | Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. scott%hwcs@ukc.uucp | |_____ "Expect the unexpected."
