Greetings. I just want to see what you all think of Insight Computers. It seems that Insight won the semi-finals (over Gateway 2000). If noone tells me anything very bad, I'll be sending them a M.O. for $4K :-) I've heard complaints about Gateway 2000 - like "they grew out of their service departament" or "[they] put me on hold for 40 minutes" etc. I have not heard such things about Insight. "In other news..." ;-) I just got this month's issue of BYTE and finished reading the article on IDE drives. You may remember that I posted a bunch of questions a little while ago. As soon as I organize the my next post and add the info from that article, I'll post it. Thank you to all who replied to my post. Take care. -- _______________________________________________________________________________ "The Force will be with you, always." There are tremendous advantages for using your VISA. Here is why I used my VISA to purchase my computer: 1) I get an automatic EXTRA YEAR OF WARRANTY! In other words, my computer has a TWO year parts/labor guarantee through my VISA company just because I used their card! 2) I get an automatic 90 DAY INSURANCE COVERAGE! In other words, if my computer is BROKEN, DAMAGED, STOLEN, LOST, BURNED UP, etc. it's automatically covered! 3) My VISA company will automatically refund my money in case my computer company breaks their contract! This means that if my computer company doesn't deliver the computer as promised, or doesn't hold good on their warranty, my VISA company will step in and either see that the computer company makes good on their contract or will refund my money. Just ask the net how many problems people have had with companies and have turned to their VISA companies for help. VISA companies may differ. Mine happens to be Citibank; you should check out your own company for specific details. P.S. To all those of you who keep saying things like "my hard drive died and it was just two months past the warranty," or "my monitor no longer syncs correctly and its warranty just expired," if you paid with a VISA you MAY BE COVERED AUTOMATICALLY FOR PARTS AND LABOR FOR ANOTHER YEAR! CALL YOUR VISA COMPANY!!! My VISA automatically doubles the warranty on ANY purchase I make up to an additional year. Stephen M.
