I have one machine that has a Trident SVGA card in it with an older Compaq VGA monitor attached. When I put 512k on the board and try to see 640x480x256, the picture gets all out of sync. I hooked on the monitor on my Diamond Star (Tseng4) 1meg VGA and it did the same thing -- until I changed the monitor settings from IBM8514 to something like MAG1448. Then in worked, I got 256 colors at 640x480, I even got 800x600 and 1024x768 w/256 colors but of course the rgb wasn't aligned since the monitor can't handle that! The point is, my ATI and DiamondStar vga cards both have ways of setting the monitor. I looked in the Trident vga book and all it mentions are PS/2 85?? monitors and Multisync. Does this mean the only thing to do to get 640x480x256 with that monitor is to buy a different VGA card (like ATI or DS) or does someone know of some way to get the Trident card to accept alternate monitors. The Trident SVM program doesn't seem to have any alternate monitor selection like DS' VMODE or ATI's mode switching prog. Please help!!! Thanks. Alexander Morris "People die, things change...
