[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] QEMM 5.11 and PS/2 80

iga@vector.msk.su (Igor V. Semenyuk) (03/08/91)

A friend of mine needs info on what ROM ranges he can safely INCLUDE
in QEMM386 config line on PS/2 model 80 (e.g. ROM-BASIC and what else?)?
e-mail or leave a posting here, please.

I think the only answer to that problem is to do what is suggested in
the manual, use Manifest to find possible areas, and include them one
at a time, testing all parts of the system between each include.

On a PS/2 80 with both SCSI and ESDI controllers i got 50k extra high
memory by using BlueMax 386 instead of QEMM 5.11. The BlueMax was a
pain the *ss to install, though. The PS/2 is the only machine I've
been able to install any 386MAX products on. On two other machines
386MAX kludged up the network system installed, and on my own 386sx
with two HD controllers I never got the installation process to work
properly. I spent several hours trying to get a manual install to
work before giving up. I went back to QEMM 5.11 instead.

Regards,

  -Terje
