[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Is this price right for a Conner?

anlee@misvax.mis.arizona.edu (Andrew Lee) (03/03/91)

I just called a few places for prices on a Conner CP3104 with a AT kit.
Here are the prices that I got:

Hard Drives International: $529
Dirt Cheap Drives: $499
Hokkins Systemation, Inc. (HSI): $430

Has anyone dealt with HSI before? They are based in San Jose. DC Drives
wouldn't touch that price with a 10 foot pole. Is it too good to be true?
I called them back a second time to make sure. This time I spoke to
someone else and they quoted me $474. I told her that someone had quoted
me $430 just 30 minutes ago. She went to check and said: yes, that was my
boss that you spoke to. I can give it to you for $430.

Comments anyone?

I've only dealt with Hard Drives International. Keep in mind that they
offer a 30-day refund and 1-year exchange policy. Like you, I always
wonder about suspiciously low prices. If you order from the lowest-
cost source, I'd recommend using a credit card. This gives you some
bargaining power if you later have reason to regret the purchase.
