i have a 486/25 with an odd drive problem.
i have two hard drives, a 5.25 in 1.2 meg floppy and a 3.5 in
1.4 meg floppy. the hard drives are ide style.
list of weird problems:
1. after changing cmos, i have to power cycle in order to boot
off the hard drive.
2. after booting off the hard drive, i cant read the a: drive
at all (5.25 in) but the b: drive is ok.
3. after booting off floppy, all drives read ok, but in order to
boot off the hard drive again, i have to power cycle
(if i try to warm boot, it gives me a hard drive controller
failure)
this isnt that much of a problem, but it is rather annoying
to have to boot off of floppy to use the 5.25 drive and then
power cycle to boot normally. any insight into the problem
would be appreciated.
