I'm thinking of joining Club Med and visiting their Paradise Island resort in the Caribbean, or maybe the one in Tahiti (Bora Bora). If anyone is a member of Club Med and has gone to one of their resorts, I'd welcome your comments. I'd also be interested in the lowest cost times to go on such trips. This is probably of general enough interest to post. I went to Club Med Paradise Island this past September. The rates were absolutely fantastic, being the off season. It was $399 plus the $30 Club membership for 5 days and 4 nights. This, of course, included air fare from New York, meals, room, activities - everything but drinks. Paradise Island is adjacent to Nassau in the Bahamas. The brochures describe the activities, which are the usual tennis, water sports, etc. The food comes in mass quantities, with free wine at lunch and dinner. There is a most-night disco every night. The place was only a quarter full. I could see how prime season would be much too overcrowded for me. The reason this was off season may have to do with the weather, which was a bit rainy. It was always warm, but the rooms were air-conditioned. For those of you who think of Club Med as a singles place, it has that aspect, but there were plenty of couples. I went with someone, and it really isn't the type of place I would go to alone with the hope of meeting someone. If you're female, you should expect to be harassed by idiotic males who think you're there for the same reason as they are - I watched it go on. If that's what you want, there's no better place. I've left out a lot, of course. I can reply to individual questions, and if you're at CSO Piscataway, I can show you the pictures. In fact, if I remember, I'll bring them to UniForum next week.
