[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Hayes V series and UDC Modem

drezac@dcsc.dla.mil (Duane L. Rezac) (03/30/91)

We have been trying to establish a data link between a hayes
v-series smartmodem 9600b modem and a uds v.32 modem.

equipment:

Their side :
computer - unknown
modem - uds v.32 modem using factory settings
software - CarbonCopy

Our side:
computer - Zenith 248
modem - hayes v-series smartmodem 9600b (internal, on com2:)
software - CarbonCopy

When we try to connect, I get a carrier from the remote system, but
our system seems to ignore it.

The remote carrier sounds strange (at lest to me) - I hear a tone,
and then a "clicking" sound that occurs at approx 1/2 second
intervals.

Any suggestions from the modem guru's out there?
