[net.travel] London and Paris info needed

I'm planning on being in Europe from the end of February
through the middle of March, and need information on
places to stay in Paris and London.  My travel agent (who
is a family friend) says that I really don't need reservations
at this time of year but can make them.  I really don't want
to stay first class, and would like to keep the cost down.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
