I would like to know if it is possible to cheaply change a 286 unit to a 386 unit...that is to say, significantly more cheaply than actually buying a 386 unit, of course. Thank you. Tianji Yu

There once were various products with 386's that could plug into your existing motherboard, but it has gotten to the point where a whole new motherboard costs the same (and gives much better performance). All of your old peripherals (except for memory) should work just fine. I'll not recommend a particular brand of motherboard--other folks on the net will know more than I do about this. -Ed
