[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] 80387 25MHz question

goolsbey@cs.utexas.edu (Keith Goolsbey) (04/09/91)

I need to buy a math coprocessor for my Standard Computer 25MHz 386DX
machine. What are the relative merits of Intel, Cyrix, and Weitek
chips? I intend to perform a LOT of double-real multiplication and
addition (the ultimate fractal machine) and maybe a lot of transcendentals
like sin and exp. Oh yeah, my machine does support Weitek.

1) How compatible are Cyrix, Weitek, and any others to Intel?

2) What are the relative performance differences between them?

3) What are the relative costs between them?

4) Any clear winners? Any good mail-order places to get them?

Thanks for any help you can give me!
