[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] QEMM trashes files in Windows 3.0

martin@saturn.uucp (Martin J. Schedlbauer) (04/03/91)

I have QEMM 5.1 under DOS 4.01 and Windows 3.0 on a 386 with 16MB.

I'm loading PCKWIK (Windows version) into low memoryand nothing into high.
I excluded virtually all the High RAM, as I have a 8514/A, VGA, ESDI.

If I print in Windows using SuperPrint, the file inside AMI get trashed and
SuperPrint's print spool file is also corrupted.

If I don't use QEMM, but rather HIMEM, everything is fine. Are there any
special options I should use? anybody care to share theirs?

	thanks,
	...Martin

But *which* version of QEMM 5.1 ????

The choices are: 5.10, 5.11, or 5.12. Only the second two are compatible
with Windows 3.0.

I understand you should upgrade QEMM from 5.1 to 5.11 (now 5.12). 5.11
and greater work with windows.

Can anybody post the binary patch that converts QEMM 5.11 to 5.12? My
last attempt at getting an update took 3 months through the US post (a card
board floppy container was sent from Rockville, MD postmarked Dec 12,90. I
received it 10 days ago. The stamp was 63 cents.)

Thanx in advance
