My seagate st151 just died the other day. It worked one day and did
not the next. I have taken it out and the stepper motor spins up to around
a 100 RPMs and then it just stops. Dont know if the main motor is getting
any power. Does anybody have any experience with this? Any suggestions?
BTW, How many of you know that SEAGATE WARRANTY starts when the distributor
gets your drive, NOT WHEN YOU DO? Is it just me or is that kind of strange?
Are all warranties like this for hard drives? I thought it was fairly scummy.
A year old (2K hour) drive just dying, they wont do anything about it at all!
There goes the MTBF out the window.
