[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] 8mm Exebyte drive on PC's

jacksu@sara.atmos.uiuc.edu (Jack Su) (04/16/91)

Hi

Currently we have an 8mm Exebyte drive connected to a Sparcstation.
We need to connect this 8mm drive to a 386 for a summer field project.
Specifically, does anyone have any experience/information on the
following:

1) SCSI card for the AT bus that will work with the Exebyte drive.
2) Device driver (and/or library) for the Exebyte drive allowing
access via C (or possibly FORTRAN) programs in a DOS environment..

Thanks in advance for any information.

Call Novastor (818-707-9900) and ask for Peter Means. They have a set of C language routines for the Exabyte 8mm tape unit called C Programmer's Interface. It supports Adaptec and Always SCSI interface boards. List price is $295 (20% Edu discount).

I can't vouch for the software since we haven't purchased it yet. (We probably will order it soon though).
