My Sony 1024x768 monitor has a horizontal black line, one pixel wide about 2.5" from the bottom of the screen. It only appears when the background is a light color (of course). The tech support person at the company I bought it from says that there is a horizontal wire inside the monitor that blocks one scan line. I forgot what he said the wire is for (apeture compensation something or other?). Has anyone else seen this? Does the HG stand for Horizontal Gap? Has this been discussed before? They use a Trinitron CRT which has long slits in the shadow mask rather than the holes used in a more traditional CRT. The gap you notice is indeed a wire to help keep the shadow mask stable. I made note to that line on my new Sony 1304 just purchased 2 weeks ago but I compared it to several 1304s at work and they all had the same line. It seems the tech person may be right or at least that this line is 'normal' for the Sony 1304. I have no other complaints however. The monitor is a beaut.
