[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] 16 bit VGA operations

  I have a Leading Edge 386-16Mhz computer and an ATI VGA Wonder-16 with 
512k on it.  The VGA card seems to want to run only in 8-bit mode, and 
it's just too slow.  I've tried running the accompanying software, but I 
keep getting a message saying something to the effect of "Cannot switch 
to 16-bit mode".  I can set it for 8-bit mode, and it'll do that just 
fine, but it won't go to 16-bit mode.  I've tried removing all of my I/O 
cards (including the hard disk controller) and disabled all shadow memory 
and booted from a copy of MS-DOS 3.3 with no autoexec.bat or config.sys, 
but it still won't go to 16-bit.  Does anybody know of a solution?
