I don't have all the details, system config., hardware config., or exact hardware being used, so.. A friend has no room for each computer to have a printer, HPIID. Currently, each is tied to a server for printing, but the complaint is that it is too slow when printing. When these computers are not hooked to the server (assume they are directly connected to the printer), the printing process is much faster. Is there a device that can take the place of a server, switching from one computer input to another without the mechanical-type A-B-C-D-etc. switch? And, in the process of eliminating the server, speed up the print time? I guess it would have to be software controlled otherwise IT may switch to another computer in mid-stream of input from another printer. If there is something out there, don't be shy with the possible pricing, it's easier to buy one good device than to add another addition to the office to accomodate the people and computers. Thanks. Robert.
