[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Bad keyboard connector on old IBM Transportable

Recently we had one of the modular (similar to the RJ11 type connectors) keyboa
rd connectors break on one of our old IBM Transportable PC's. I had a six wire
modular connector and figured I could just use it to replace the bad one. I c
ut off the old one and replaced it with the new one--making sure to line up the
wire colors to match the old one. I pluged it in and it seemed to snap into p
lace. However, I still get a 301 keyboard error. I tried another keyboard and
it works fine. Therefore, I know it is not a problem with the PC end of the co
nnector. I did notice that the connectors were a little bit different. Does t
he IBM Transportable require special connectors? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
