I currently own a T5200/100 and recently heard about an upgrade which consists of a new BIOS ROM and a 200meg HD. (You keep the 100Meg for fun I guess) I hoped that I would be able to sell the 100Meg (Which upon opening up the laptop proved to be a conner drive) to someone and get some money back on the purchase of the 200meg HD. I was told that I could not use a "normal" Conner 100meg drive (ie buy my own and then buy the ROMs) as the model in the T5200 was especially made for the T5200 and had the controller on board. This raises the question that I would have to keep the 100meg. If another "normal" Conner HD wouldn't work on mine, then surely mine would be of no use to anyone else. I do have some knowledge of SCSI and realise that the HD in the laptop had a 50pin (looked like 50) connector and I also know that SCSI HD's have part of the controller inbuilt into them (as do all SCSI peripherals) Could the Dealer be leading me on so I would have to buy their 200meg HD and ROMs or do I end up with a 200meg HD and some spare cash ? Anyone else out there (Especially form Australia) with a T5200 that want to share any experiences or interesting info on the unit, please do ! I own a T5200 expanded to 6meg total, 16" EIZO monitor, 512k AVGA (AHead vers B i think) card and a 1.2meg external floppy. (and a fairly full 100meg HD :-) I'd prefer email on this question, if I get alot of replies and people asking for those replies then I _will_ post a summary. Thanks, Mike. -- ------------------------+----------------------------------------------------- | Michael portmann | You can't hide, what is right, face the truth, LIAR | You can't feel, you just steal, face the truth, LIAR ma892240@lux.sait.edu.au | - Yngwie J Malmsteen (Trilogy album) | ------------------------+-----------------------------------------------------
