Now officials say it threatens to back its tributaries into city subdivisions. The brackish inland sea, which covers about 10 million square acres, has been rising constantly during two years of record rain and snowfall and below normal evaporation. ... Under normal conditions, the lake surface is expected to rise as high as 4,209 feet above sea level at its peak near the end of June ... but the National Weather Service says precipitation could be between 110 and 130 percent of normal ... pushing the lake to its 1983 record of 4,211.6 feet. ...
