[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Reading 3.5" Commodore disks

[if you're reading this on comp.sys.cbm, please followup to
comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware or mail me a copy... my system doesn't get
c.s.cbm -- thanks!]

Having just put a 3.5" drive in my PC, I came across some old 3.5s from
when I had a C-128 and a couple of 1581 drives. Now, I could just format
them and use the space, but it happens that there are some textfiles on
them that I had forgotten existed. I'd like to salvage them.

It's common knowledge that you can't read GCR 5.25" floppies on a DOS
machine, but what of the 3.5"? DOS reports "sector not found", but I
recall looking over the drive mechanism in my '81, and it appeared to be
a standard TEAC drive. Is there a program for the PC somewhere that
will let me access these files? I have a 1.44 Meg floppy drive, if it
should be important.

Thanks for your ideas and indulgence in advance!
