Almost everybody responded that the BIOS on the ESDI controller controls the disk parameters and the BIOS in the mother-board does not control ESDI drives. Therefore most suggestions are to set the drive type to 1 and ignore the disk parameters associated with this number. The mother-board BIOS is useful for MFM disks (and maybe others, but not ESDI).
