[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] T5200 AVGA and Internal VGA problem.

ma892240@LUX.SAIT.EDU.AU (Michael Portmann) (05/02/91)

I currently own a Toshiba T5200/100 with an Ahead VGA card in the 16 bit
expansion slot (connected to a 16" monitor)

This leaves the internal VGA plasma display unusable. I can live with that
because I get 1024x768 from the AVGA card which I what I need. However, when
I want to (at times) use the laptop with it's plasma display instead of the
AVGA card (due to not wanting to lug a 16" monitor around with me - it just
doesn't fit in the carry case :-) I have to physically open the back up and
remove the card and then plug the plasma display back in, go into the setup
and fix any problems there (Then of course, open the back up and replace the
AVGA card once I've finished with the plasma display.)

Is there any EASY way to disable the AVGA card ? A switch that could be made
that could disable the AVGA's BIOS ? Possibly, is there a way I could use the
plasma display with the AVGA card ?

Thanks,
       Mike.
