[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Miniscribe & Sound Blaster Questions

First the miniscribe question. I have a miniscribe 8438 hard drive with
head 0 inoperative. Repair costs are out of my league, so I was wondering
if anyone had the pinout for J10, (Where the heads plug into the controller
card on the drive) so I could re-wire head 3 in place of head 0 so the drive
would at least be 75% usable again. Or, are there any easy tests that can
be done to determine if it is a problem with the on-drive controller rather
than a crashed head?

Now for the Sound Blaster Question. Does anyone have a map of the sound
blaster registers and addresses so I can program some of my own music or
sounds? It would sure be nice if I could write some software to change the
annoying ^G beep into a pleasing sound blaster `ping' or something like
that.

I think the Sound Blaster is worth the $158 (delivered) cost that I paid
for it. It adds a new life to old games, as well as new ones.
