[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Backup on VCR?

py@meadow.uucp (Peter Yeung) (04/26/91)

I remember reading on the net about a card that can be used to hook up
to a VCR and one can backup data using the VCR. It sounds like a good
alternative to buying a tape subsystem because I have an old VCR sitting
around gethering dust.

PC-Connection was mentioned. However, when I phoned, the person on the
otherside of the line said that they do not carry the card anymore.

Is the card still being made?

Is there other sources where such card can be found?

Does anyone has more info about the card?

Thanks in advance!

>IMHO, it's a waste of a perfectly good VCR. For the same price, you could buy

PC Connection sells a $99 card to do just this. You
just need a spare VCR. If you already have one that
you use for movies you might as well use it for back-
ups.
