I am trying to install Maxtor 7080A HD into Goldstar 286S AT. Maxtor is 1170 tracks, 36 sectors/track and 4 heads AT/IDE. The problem is that Goldstar Setup don't know any such HD. And there is also not possible to write a HD record in Setup that should had these parameters. I phoned Goldstar representative service but they couldn't help me at all. All they said that I should try to use a HD that were listed in Setup. Unbelievable. Well, now you can told me what to do. Can I update BIOS, Setup program so that I can give the right parameters to Setup or use some HD config program (like Disk Manager). I looked at theref41.zip (huge HD info list) and found that the same disk is also selling as Microscience so perhaps using Microscience's version of Disk Manager I can write the CMOS so that this works.
