[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Programming the ALMSC

Hi all,

This posting is about programming the Adlib Music Sythesizer Card.
A few months ago I purchased the Programmers manual from Adlib.
Boy, was I ripped off. I had to pay the equivalent of appr. $ 100
for a totaly inadequate manual, with lotsa errors. The package
was a total farce, just to bring in money for Adlib instead of
supporting developers.

On this newsgroup I once saw a posting in which was stated that
the Adlib uses a common sound chip. Does anyone know this
sound chip? I would like to obtain the data sheets in order to
get some real info on the board.

The info I need is about the phase of the sine waves.
In the manual an operator is described as: F(t) = E(t) sin(wt + O)
The O is the phase of the wave. An operator is described as having
2 inputs: freq. and phase. Looking at the I/O map of the chip,
no phase parameters can be found. Is this because Adlib ommited them
from the map, because they did not know the meaning of them
(very likely) or because the IC just does not have it?

The thing I want to do with my adlib is to use the compisite sine
wave modus to form a wave consisting of 18 sines and cosines.
To get a cosine, I have to modify the phase of a sine. Does anyone know
how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance,
