[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Sound Blaster card

ajai@sce.carleton.ca (Ajai Sehgal) (12/11/90)

I just got my hands on a Soundblaster card (not quite, its being delivered
next week) for free (a gift). What can I do with it (besides game sounds)?

Is there any software or sound files for it available from anon. FTP sites?
If so which sites (number address please. our nameserver is not reliable).

What are its midi capabilities and to use them do I need additional H/W.

Can I hook it up to a Stereo system?

P.S. The card is second hand and I don't expect to be getting much documentation

Thanks, Ajai.

You need some midi converter between the midi connection and your SB.

Yes you can. You take input directly from your SB card and use quite low
volume.

I apologise for taking up the extra bandwidth, but would anyone know
where I can get a Sound Blaster card at a real good prices...?
I have seen prices at $149.00, but someone on the net had said that he's
seen prices for about $129.00, or somewhere around there.

Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.
