I have recently purchased a new system with a quantum 105 mb hdd. I have heard that it is impossible to format these drives. Is this true? The reason I ask is that I mistakenly performed a low level format with a three to one 3:1 interleave ration. This occured with the new version of Norton Utilities Calibrqate utility. I did not realise it picked 3:1 as the optimum until afterwards. Unfortunatley the next time I ran it it said that this drive is an IDE and cannot be formatted. Has the drive been formatted to 3:1 interleave. Also the drive makes an occasional ticking noise, is this the servo controoler recalibrating itself? s882790@minyos.xx Thanks in advance!
