North American
Seminars in
Jewish Learning
Scholarship Competition
Are you intrigued and excited by the thought of spending part of
your summer studying the foundations of Jewish knowledge in an
environment which recognizes and reponds to your intellectual and
personal maturity?
You'll be introduced to the fascinating world of Talmud, the drama
of Jewish history and the depth and sophistication of Jewish
philosophy.
You'll experience the fullness and vitality of Jewish life,
highlighted by the tangible spirituality of the traditional Shabbat
atmosphere.
Classes, whether lecture or discussion, are small, allowing for
important student/teacher interaction. The atmosphere is one of
warmth, mutual respect and genuine camaraderie among the students.
The most important key to each person's development is a staff of
outstanding scholars. Their personal involvement with students on
a daily basis extends far beyond class hours -- a function of the
informal extended-family atmosphere of the program.
Set in a beautiful wooded resort complex in upstate New York, the
'84 Summer Seminars provide a unique combination of comprehensive
Judaic studies along with a full range of recreational activities
including swimming, tennis, baseball, basketball and volleyball.
The program includes a wide spectrum of topics which are taught
from a traditional perspective. With the guidance of teachers and
tutors, the student learns to analyze texts in the original Hebrew
and develops a method of "learning how to learn."
