I have a Sound Blaster which is connected to an external R/S amplifier (20-40watt?) and then to a set of 60 watt speakers. My problem is that I get alot of electrical interference in the form of hissing/whining and crackling noise which gets very annoying after a while. I have tried to ground everything the best I can and sheild the video display cable also but it helps very little. I would like to eliminate this background noise when I'm not using the sound blaster so that I can leave the amp on all the time without having to listen to my computer computing. Any help or info would be appreciated. TIA, John Fowler opr_fowler@mcis2.enet.dec.com

I noticed this on my machine, so when I was talking with Creative Labs I asked them about it. They said that it happens on certain machines, though it may be much worse on some than on others. This phenomenon accounts for the PARROT program's initial interference check; i.e., you have to set the level of interference to screen out as much noise as you can for your particular pc. Here are two things which might help: 1) Turn the volume down on your sb card and use your external amplifier to compensate. 2) Move the sb card to a slot further away from your power supply and your hard drive.
