A singular opportunity presents itself for my father and I to vacation in Scotland for about two weeks sometime during the period mid-August to mid-September. My father was born there and hasn't seen Scotland since he was nine, more than sixty years ago. Our present concept is to fly to London, then use a BritRail Pass to see Edinburgh, Glasgow, and perhaps Aberdeen and Inverness. We have also been thinking about hiring a self-drive car (US car rental) for side trips, and placing a preference for staying in bed and breakfast establishments rather than hotels. I have been to Great Britain before and have traveled some in Europe, Asia and Africa. We would appreciate any suggestions for places to stay, things to see and do, and places to hire a car. We are in the process of trying to locate literature on such things, but we would prefer personal recommendations. Since my present field of research is in artificial intelligence the possibility of any sort of visit to the University of Edinburgh would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. Ted Jardine -- TJ (with Amazing Grace) The Piper ...uw-beaver!ssc-vax!tjj
