[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Selecting a small 286 for Coherent

KPURCELL@LIVERPOOL.AC.UK (05/31/91)

I'm considering buying a small (and cheap) 286 machine to run the Coherent
(a unix-alike from MWC) as a uucp mail/news machine.

Spec:

12Mhz 286, >2Mbyte RAM, at least one slot, IDE drive, MDA/Hercules video,
3.5" 1.44Mbyte floppy, two serial ports, runs Coherent, physically small
and cheap as possible!

One box that has attracted my attention is the "New Bread Box computer" from
Resource Concepts in Addison, TX. Seems like I only need to add a monitor,
keyboard and IDE drive to this to get it going. Sells for $425.

Has anybody seen this machine or read a review of it? If so, send me some mail
I'd like to ask you some questions. What are Resource Concepts like to
deal with?

Any other suggestions for a cheap system?

Any help appreciated.

Kevin
