I'm having problems with my floppy disk/controller. 12mhz clone at motherboard AMI bios (new) herc graphics board (from my old xt) rll disk controller, with 1 30 meg hd (from my old xt) floppy controller with 1.44 meg floppy (new) At 12 mhz and 0 wait everything works works from dos. The floppy is unusable at either 6 mhz or with 1 wait state. So, why am I complaining? My copy of fastback (9/88) claims the floppy fails the low speed dma test and the AMI bios diagnostics keep telling me the floppy fails. What's wrong? Hi, people. I have strange problem with my floppies. I have DTK 386sx 16Mhz system. It uses 2F/2H IDE controller. When I run it turbo mode (16Mhz) my hard disk (ST157A) works fine, but floppies have read/write errors. Such errors are not detected, i.e. copy has no problems, but compare then shows differences between files. If I switch to 8Mhz the errors disappear, but HD sometimes hangs for about 30 s keeping light on. Then it completes read/write without problems. Can anyone help me with this problem? P.S. This problem appeared when weather got hot, in winter I had no problems with floppies. However HD always behaved strange at 8Mhz. ------- +----------------------------------+--------------------------------+ | Dmitry Teytelman (718)252-7708 | Design a system that even | | Internet: h90si@cunyvm.cuny.edu | fool can use and only fool | | Bitnet: h90si@cunyvm | will use it. | +----------------------------------+--------------------------------+
