There is an exhibit on China at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. It will be there through August 31. There are demonstrations, such as weaving silk, making paper, embroidery, calligraphy. Has anyone been to see it? (I saw a blurb on TV.) If so, I'd appreciate hearing your comments. Also, how much are tickets?

I saw the exhibit when I was in Seattle during the last ANSI X3J11 (C Std) meeting. The exhibit was pretty good, in particular the people doing the crafts. You have to put up with some propaganda, but not much. I thought it was worth the $5.00 admission fee, though I was disappointed with the rest of the PSU (Pacific Science Center). ... Have not yet been to the China exhibit, but have tickets for March 31. Will be happy to summarize the experience and mail to anyone who asks, if there is interest. The tickets we bought, four, came to $25 total. I believe there is a lower price for Senior Citizens (two of the four) than for us working adults. I believe that it's $7 for adults, and $5.50 for Seniors. The hours are M-F 12:00N to 16:30, Sat & Sun 10:00 to 18:00. The remaining hours of the day are for private group tours. [] References: <1588@tekig1.UUCP> If it is anything like the exhibit held in Toronto at the Ontario Science Centre a couple of years ago, it is fantastic. There was a large two-man silk weaving loom, there was a display of fine silk hand made two-sided images, building techniques (no nails, big model), non-magnetic compass, a directional earthquake detector, and much more. It was a wonderful exhibit, and I would drive a long way to see it again. I have no idea what your Pacific Science Center will charge for it, but it is my experience that these things are usually have "popular prices". -- Lee Dickey, University of Waterloo.
