PC Assembly Hair-puller # 63: Hard disk partition failure Symptoms: Low level format works perfectly. Drive diagnostics report no errors. FDISK appears to work properly but after a re-boot, the partition data disappears. Sample session: [diagnostics and low level format done through internal diagnostics] A> fdisk [Choose "Create DOS partition"] [Answer "yes" to create and activate primary partition] Your computer will now reboot. Strike any key to continue.... [Machine reboots] A> format c:/s Invalid drive specification A> c: Invalid drive specification A> fdisk [Choose "Display partition data"] No applicable partitions [Exit fdisk] A> what is going on, you stupid computer? bad command or filename [Grab a baseball bat...] Does anyone have any suggetions? Please? Pretty please with sugar on top??
