I am planning to purchase a modem, does anyone have any advise on which one I should buy? A 2400 baud one or a 9600 baud? What brand is good? Thanks in advance.

I was looking for internal 9600FAX/modem with v42.bis data compression capbility so that I can send/receive FAX with 9600 baud and use it as 2400 modem but with 9600 speed with the help of data compression. (I am not sure if 9600FAX is also using data compression technique or not) It seems that there isn't such a toy I am looking for. Is there any idea on this?
