[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] need 640k in vanilla PC

Hello,
Somone recently gave me an ordinary IBM PC, with the 256k motherboard.
It's got 256k installed in it at the moment. I very much need to put
640k into it -- none of my software will run in less than that amount.
Somone recently told me that it's possible to put 640k on the
motherboard of such a machine. Is this so? What does one need to do
to accomplish this?

I've got lots of memory chips, both 64kbit and 256kbit, to play with.
