[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Installing DIPS

I have a question concerning the correct installation of 1mg x 1 chips.
For starters, I am putting together a 386sx-20 based on the Intel (VLSI)
chipset.  I have to install 18 chips in the system at a time (or if I
used the SIMM sockets, two at a time).  The documentation that came with
the motherboard said nothing about the proper installation of RAM chips.
I've got the chips, but I don't want to do anything such that I will
destroy them by installing them incorrectly.

Here's a diagram as to how the socket looks in relation to the
everything else on the motherboard (if that helps).

What I did....

I populated bank 0 as per instructions in the manual.  I installed the
chips such that the markings on the chips could be read by looking over
the front of the chassis.  The notch on the chips are facing away from
the power supply
