[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Comments on IDE drives

bparekh@bonnie.ics.uci.edu (Behram Parekh) (06/11/91)

Has anyone had any experience (bad or good) with either the
Seagate 1239A 200MB IDE drive or the Quantum 210AT 200MB
IDE drive ? These are both at about the same price, the
Seagate has a 15msec access time, the Quantum a 17msec time,
but the Quantum is advertised as having a 12msec effective
access time with its DisCashe system..no idea what the Seagate
time is.

Are there any problems with either of these drives, is there
a reason why I should buy a Conner, Maxtor, or Rodime...these
all have higher access times, and cost more than either the
Seagate or the Quantum.

If this has been answered before, could someone please email
me the text...if not, please email or post your comments and
I'll post a summary of the responses.

Thanks!
