[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Negotiating with Gateway on pricing. . .

gary@ellis.uchicago.edu (gary buchholz) (06/12/91)

Here's a naive question... Anyone out there try to talk Gateway down in
their prices? As it is now, for an almost name no-name clone maker they
have very competitive prices. Their 25Mhz/386, 4MB, 80MB IDE & MS Windows
& DOS 5.0 at $2295 seems a good deal.

My experience with these guys on the phone was that 1) the sales guys work
on commission. 2) They seem to be willing to throw stuff in for "free" if
you give them a good story... Like memory, serial ports... etc.

Anyone get a good deal on quantity "1" lower than the published prices ?
