I got onto this newsgroup this morning because I had a couple of questions to ask about my Trident 8900 SVGA board, and what did I find? A SLEW of messages complaining about problems using Trident boards! Is Trident the DOG of VGA? More importantly, I have only had a few problems with my board, but they are driving me up the wall. When I try to use a program like VGIF and specify a special video mode, the program wants an AX, and optionally a BX, register values. Well my Trident manual tells me the AX values but when I put them in, I only get part of the picture on the top portion of the screen. The picture is overwritten by the rest of the picture. It seems to be some sort of vertical syncing problem. Does anybody have a clue what's going on? Is there a value I should be putting in the BX register? Does anybody have Trident's phone number (they conveniently left this out of their manual). I know it's possible because CSHOW works fine, once I've specified the correct video driver file (that comes with CSHOW). Any help would be most helpful.
