[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] 8311 Hard Disk Error

sguerke@brahms.udel.edu (Stephen Guerke) (06/16/91)

machine this afternoon, I recieved this lovely message. After my
panic, I opened up the machine, jiggled the drive and rehung the drive
above it (2 hard drives...a sts251 type 44 40Mb and a sts125 type 2
20Mb)since it seemed to have settled ontop of the 40Mb - hung with
rubberbands - didn't have the rails (I'll put my flame proof suit on
for that :-)) anyhow, when I rehung the 20 and moved it away from the
40, lo and behold, it worked. Obviously my C drive is the 40. Could
the physical contact between the two drives have caused the problem?
I could get to the 20 when I booted from a floppy but I couldn,t get
to the 40. Any Ideas?

Thanks
