[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Problems with VUIMG and Everex Viewpoint VGA

mju@mudos.ann-arbor.mi.us (Marc Unangst) (06/16/91)

I'm having some problems using VUIMG and my Everex Viewpoint VGA card
(256K of video memory). I have a Leading Technology 1428S monitor,
which supposedly supports 31.5kHz, 35.2kHz, and 35.5kHz horizontal
scan rates, and vertical scan rates of 40Hz to 70Hz. Anyway, I'm
using the VESA video driver that VUIMG came with, along with the TSR
that my Viewpoint card came with to impliment the VESA interface.
Among the video modes offered are 640x400x256 and 512x480x256, both of
which seem to fit in 256K of video memory (640x480x256 obviously won't
work with only 256K). 512x480x256 works okay, but when the card
switches into 640x400x256 mode, the monitor doesn't seem to sync
properly. The image is moved up on the screen, and there appear to be
several images with large vertical spaces between the vertical lines.
Does anybody know what the problem might be? Is there anything I can
do to fix it, or am I just going to have to live without 640x400 video
modes?
