[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Plus HardCard & ST251-1 on 386sx?

I have a 386sx system from ZEOS with an ST251-1 MFM drive
that has been serving me fine for about a year. I just
purchased a PLUS HARDCARD 40 and it fails to boot up correctly.
When I boot up with only the ST251-1, everything is fine. It
also works when I boot up with just the HARDCARD (with the
jumper set for drive 1). But when I set the HARDCARD jumper
for drive two and boot up with both drives, the system does not
recognize either drive and refuses to boot. Ctrl-Alt-Del and
reset do not help.

BUT the strange thing is, if I turn off the computer and turn
it back on as soon as the drive stops spinning, then the system
boots, it recognized both drives, and everything works fine.

Is the HardCard supposed to work on a 386sx? Has anyone ever
had this trouble? Is there a way to fix it?
