[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] What baud rate should I use?

rlk20269@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu (Richard Leon Kapusta) (06/27/91)

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a
difference between connecting at 9600 baud and
connecting at 19200 baud when using a 9600 baud
V42bis modem?

Thanks!

You should use the fastest speed that your modem allows. That way, data
compression may allow a faster terminal than actual modem speed, effectively
increasing your throughput.
